Perplexityは、2025年10月30日、世界初の AI 特許調査エージェント、Perplexity Patents をリリースしました。「誰でも使える AI 搭載の特許検索」がキーワードです。
包括的な調査を行うために正確なキーワードの組み合わせと難解な構文の知識を必要とするシステムに依存してきた特許検索は、専門的なプラットフォームは高価で、かなりのトレーニングが必要でした。Perplexity Patentsは、これらの制限を取り除き、自然言語で誰もが特許情報にアクセスし、迅速に明確な回答を得られる新しい時代を切り開くとしています。Perplexity Patentsを使えば、特許文献の検索だけでなく、学術論文、その他の情報源も調査できるようです。そして、全世界で利用でき、ベータ版期間中は、すべてのユーザーが無料で利用できるとのこと。
最近のPerplexity Deep Researchは、特許情報も正確にとらえていると感じていたのは、すでにこの機能が埋め込まれていたからかもしれません。
生成AIは、特許情報のデータベースを持っていないし、データベースに正確にアクセスもできないから、特許情報の調査・解析には使えない、という常識が覆る日も近いようです。

Perplexity Patents: AI-Powered Patent Search for Everyone
On October 30, 2025, Perplexity released Perplexity Patents, the world’s first AI-powered patent research agent. Its core concept is “AI-powered patent search for everyone.”
Traditional patent search systems have relied on complex combinations of precise keywords and sophisticated syntax to conduct comprehensive searches. These professional platforms were often expensive and required extensive training. Perplexity Patents aims to remove these barriers, ushering in a new era where anyone can access patent information and obtain clear, fast answers in natural language.
With Perplexity Patents, users can search not only patent documents but also academic papers and other information sources. The service is available globally, and all users can access it for free during the beta period.
The recent accuracy of Perplexity Deep Research in handling patent information may be due to this new capability already being integrated. The long-held assumption that “generative AI cannot be used for patent research and analysis because it lacks access to or ownership of patent databases” may soon be overturned.
