Sakana AI CEO Ito Invited to the G7 Summit Luncheon
During the G7 Evian Summit, held from June 15 to 17, 2026, in the French resort town of Évian-les-Bains, a special luncheon brought together heads of state from the Group of Seven and leaders of the world's most advanced AI companies, including founders and top executives from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Meta.
I watched the full version of the exclusive interview with Sakana AI co-founder and CEO, Mr. Lion Ito, titled “AI Is Becoming a Matter of National Security: The Sense of Crisis Shared by Global Big Tech Leaders and Heads of State at the G7”. Sakana AI was the only AI development company from Japan invited to participate in the luncheon. The interview provided valuable insight into the discussions held at the summit and clearly illustrated how AI has moved beyond the realm of technological innovation to become a core issue of national security.
