AIエージェントで変えるMIXIの知財

知財・無形資産ガバナンス協会（IPIAGA　呼称：アイピーガ）の2026年８月度知財ガバナンス研究会（リモート会議）が８月４日午後行われました。
今回は、株式会社MIXI コンプライアンス本部知財室室長　栗山幸介の講演「MIXI様の知財・無形資産ガバナンスに関する取り組みについて」が行われました。（会員向けなので、エッセンスしかお伝え出来ません。）
講演では、株式会社MIXIの知財室が、生成AIを単なるチャットツールとしてではなく、特許データベースや社内システムと連携し、複数の知財業務を自律的に処理する「AIエージェント」として活用していることが話されました。拒絶理由通知の分析、引用文献・ファミリー情報の収集、意見書ドラフトの作成、特許査定後のクレーム評価、分割出願案の提案など、実務に踏み込んだ活用例が紹介されました。同社が重視しているのは、業務の判断基準を言語化し、AIの出力を人が評価して改善を繰り返すこと、そしてAIがアクセスできるデータやツールを安全に「つなげる」ことです。そして、知財部門を出願や中間処理を中心とする「処理する組織」から、AIを活用してデータを収集・分析し、事業戦略や企業価値の向上に貢献する「戦略を語る組織」へ転換することを目指しています。
このMIXI知財室の取り組みについて、知財業務の変化、AIエージェントを育てる仕組み、今後の知財組織のあり方という観点から、生成AIに深掘りさせましたので、ご参照ください。なお、生成AIによる調査・分析結果は、公開された情報からだけの分析であり、必ずしも実情を示したものではないこと、誤った情報も含まれていることについてはご留意されたうえで、ご参照ください。

How AI Agents Are Transforming MIXI's Intellectual Property Function
The August 2026 Intellectual Property Governance Study Group (remote meeting), organized by the Intellectual Property & Intangible Asset Governance Association (IPIAGA), was held on the afternoon of August 4.
The featured presentation, "MIXI's Initiatives in Intellectual Property and Intangible Asset Governance," was delivered by Kosuke Kuriyama, General Manager of the Intellectual Property Office, Compliance Division, MIXI, Inc. (As this was a members-only event, only the key points can be shared.)
During the presentation, Mr. Kuriyama explained that MIXI's Intellectual Property Office is leveraging generative AI not merely as a conversational tool, but as an AI agent capable of autonomously performing multiple IP-related tasks by integrating with patent databases and internal systems.
Practical applications introduced during the session included analyzing Office Actions, collecting cited references and patent family information, drafting responses to Office Actions, evaluating claims after patent allowance, and proposing divisional filing strategies. These examples demonstrated how AI is being incorporated into day-to-day intellectual property practice.
A key message from the presentation was that the company places strong emphasis on explicitly articulating the decision-making criteria behind IP work, enabling human experts to evaluate AI-generated outputs and continuously refine them through iterative feedback. Equally important is the secure integration of the data sources and software tools that AI agents require in order to perform their tasks effectively.
Ultimately, MIXI aims to transform its IP organization from a "processing organization" focused primarily on patent filing and prosecution into a "strategic organization" that leverages AI to collect and analyze information, thereby contributing directly to business strategy and the enhancement of corporate value.
To further explore the significance of MIXI's approach, I asked generative AI to conduct an in-depth analysis from three perspectives: how IP work is changing, how AI agents can be systematically developed and improved, and what the future IP organization should look like.
