“Kolibri,” an LLM Unveiled by a German AI Company
Kolibri, an open-weight language model announced by German AI company Aleph Alpha on October 3, 2026, is attracting international attention for its innovative architecture, which embodies Europe’s digital sovereignty. Although the model has approximately 78 billion parameters in total, its sparse mixture-of-experts (MoE) architecture activates only about 3.46 billion parameters per token, enabling highly efficient processing. It also offers long-context processing capabilities and a unique mechanism for reducing hallucinations.
I have used generative AI to explore Kolibri in depth. Please refer to the resulting analysis.
