三井化学が生成AIで新材料を開発する国際ネットワークに参画

三井化学は2026年7月28日、英ケンブリッジのAIスタートアップCuspAIが主導する国際材料開発ネットワーク「AI Materials Foundry」に、45社超の創設メンバーの一員として参画したと発表しました。生成AIプラットフォームを中核に、データ・計算資源・実験設備・専門知を統合し、材料探索から実験検証までを一気通貫で行う枠組みで、日本からはほかに富士フイルム、レゾナック、JSR、ソフトバンク、東京エレクトロン、日立ハイテク、島津製作所が名を連ねています。

Mitsui Chemicals Joins International Network to Develop New Materials Using Generative AI
On July 28, 2026, Mitsui Chemicals announced that it has joined the AI Materials Foundry, an international materials development network led by the Cambridge, UK-based AI startup CuspAI, as one of more than 45 founding members.
Centered on a generative AI platform, the initiative integrates data, computational resources, experimental facilities, and domain expertise into a unified framework that enables an end-to-end workflow—from materials discovery to experimental validation. Other Japanese participants include Fujifilm, Resonac, JSR, SoftBank, Tokyo Electron, Hitachi High-Tech, and Shimadzu Corporation.
