From the Front Lines of AI-Enhanced Patent Practice
I watched the freely available archived recording of a webinar livestreamed on October 14, 2026, on the YouTube channel of Patent Integration, a patent search and analysis service. Titled “2026 Patent Information Fair Encore Webinar: Looking Beyond Your Own Perspective—From the Front Lines of AI-Enhanced Patent Practice,” the webinar featured Chieko Murofushi, Principal Patent Attorney at Kinoka Patent Office.
The webinar introduces practical applications of generative AI in prior-art searches for patent invalidation and in drafting patent specifications.
The key message is to reinvest the time saved by AI in workflow “design” and iterative improvement. The presentation outlines an approach that brings together search objectives, analytical perspectives, and decision criteria in a search design document, while establishing human review checkpoints—“human gates”—at each stage.

Rather than advocating leaving everything to AI, the webinar offers valuable insights into improving the quality of patent practice through expert judgment and continuous refinement.
