7月16日に行われた『【サマリア知財フォーラム】特許調査における必須スキルである観点設計』（【講師】 角渕 由英氏）をアーカイブ動画で視聴しました。

Perspective Design: An Essential Skill for Patent Searching
I watched the archived recording of "Perspective Design: An Essential Skill for Patent Searching," presented on July 16 as part of the Summaria IP Forum, featuring Mr. Yoshihide Kakubuchi as the lecturer.
In this session, Mr. Yoshihide Kakubuchi—Partner Patent Attorney at Lexceed Tech Patent Firm and Chair of the Patent Search Competition Executive Committee—provides a comprehensive explanation of the essential skill of perspective design in patent searching.
While advances in generative AI have dramatically improved the efficiency of patent searches, maximizing the value of AI requires a clear understanding of the subject matter and, more importantly, the ability to design what should be investigated. This process, known as perspective design, has become even more critical in the AI era. The lecture clearly distinguishes between the fundamental objectives of prior art searches and freedom-to-operate (FTO) or infringement prevention searches, and systematically explains practical methods for decomposing and structuring inventions and technologies to ensure comprehensive and reliable searches.
In the latter half of the presentation, Mr. Kakubuchi demonstrates the AI-powered patent search platform Summaria through practical examples. He walks through the entire workflow—from defining search perspectives and constructing search queries to screening results and eliminating noise. The key takeaway is that the real challenge is not simply having AI perform a patent search, but rather using AI effectively to achieve accurate, reliable, and high-quality search results. The lecture makes it clear that perspective design is the core competency that determines the quality of patent searching in the age of AI.
