初心忘るべからず（20）東北大学との産学連携

東北大学とは、エリエールティシューの開発において共同研究を行いました。
当社の研究者は「摩擦」に関する課題を抱えており、様々な摩擦の専門家にアプローチしましたが、なかなか効果的な相談ができませんでした。
そこで、少し遠くの専門家に範囲を広げてみると、東北大学の堀切川先生に親身に相談に乗ってもらえました。ここから協力関係が始まりました。
さまざまな相談の中で、先生から共同研究の提案があり、我々も積極的に取り組むことになりました。
課題の解決は容易ではありませんでしたが、諦めずに進め、仮説が当てはまらないほどチャレンジングで面白い課題として捉え、意欲的に検討しました。
粘り強い取り組みにより、様々な成果が生まれました。
一部は特許を取得し、一部はノウハウとして保護しました。
こうしてオープンとクローズのアプローチを適切に行い、知的財産に関する問題も非常に協力的かつスムーズに進展しました。
 
Industry-University Collaboration with Tohoku University
 
Tohoku University worked with us to develop the facial tissue. Our researchers faced challenges related to "friction" and contacted various experts in the field, but effective advice was hard to come by. When we expanded our search to specialists further afield, we were fortunate to receive dedicated support and advice from Professor Horikirigawa at Tohoku University. This was the beginning of our collaboration.
 
In the midst of various discussions, Professor Horikirigawa proposed a joint research initiative, and we enthusiastically committed ourselves to the endeavor. Solving the challenges was not easy, but we persevered. Viewing the issues as challenging and interesting problems, we approached them with unwavering determination and enthusiasm. The persistent efforts resulted in a number of accomplishments.
 
Some aspects were publicly disclosed and patented, while others were protected as proprietary knowledge. Thus, through a balanced approach of openness and confidentiality, we successfully navigated intellectual property issues in a highly cooperative and smooth manner.
