浅木泰昭著『危機を乗り越える力 ホンダF1を世界一に導いた技術者のどん底からの挑戦』（集英社インターナショナル）の一部を抜粋・編集した記事『F1で世界一になったホンダが、ライバルにバレても「あえて」特許を取ったワケ』を興味深く読みました。
「F1で自社開発したバッテリーの技術は特許を取得しました。普通、レースではライバルに何をしているのかバレてしまうので、特許は取りません。それでもあえてそうした理由は、F1で培ったバッテリーの技術やノウハウをホンダの将来技術に結びつけたいという思惑があったからです。」「F1で培った技術で開発した新バッテリーは、ホンダが研究開発しているさまざまな分野で活かすことができるはずです。」
「技術者にはヒーローになってほしい。私は第4期のF1プロジェクトでは、部下や協力してくれた人間のモチベーションを上げるために積極的にメディアに出ました。ストーリーをつくってメディアが伝えやすいような話題を提供し、技術者をヒーロー（主役）にしていきました。」
素晴らしいと思います。

I read with great interest the article "The Reason Why Honda, the World Champion in F1, 'Dared' to Patent Their Technology Even If Rivals Found Out," which is an excerpt and edited version of Yasuo Asaki's book "The Power to Overcome Crises: The Challenge from the Bottom by the Engineer Who Led Honda F1 to World Champion" (Shueisha International).
"We patented the battery technology developed in-house for F1. Normally, in racing, you wouldn't take out a patent because it would reveal what you're doing to rivals. Nevertheless, we did it because we wanted to link the battery technology and know-how we cultivated in F1 to Honda's future technologies."
"The new battery developed with the technology cultivated in F1 can surely be utilized in various fields that Honda is researching and developing."
"I want engineers to become heroes. In the fourth phase of the F1 project, I actively appeared in the media to raise the motivation of my subordinates and collaborators. By creating stories and providing topics that the media could easily convey, we made engineers the heroes (main characters)."
