「やめた方がいい知財活動」という刺激的なタイトルの第１７９回知財実務オンライン：「やめた方がいい知財活動」（２月２２日配信、ゲスト：One Global Ip特許事務所 代表弁理士　豊山 おぎ 氏）をアーカイブで視聴しました。
第１部企業編Part1、第２部企業編Part2、第３部特許事務所編＋特許庁編という３部構成で、実務上、あるあるの話が満載、共感する人が多かったように思います。
何か聞き覚えのある特許事務所の名前だったのでホームページを見たら、そのはずでした。
王子ホールディングスで、知的財産部長、イノベーション推進本部長 兼 専務グループ執行役員だった横山さんが、『豊山おぎ所長から「One Global Ip 特許事務所を、知的財産権の創出・権利化・登録・維持のみに関わるいわゆる『特許事務所』から、真に経営者や開発者、知財担当者に貢献できる事務所に変革したい。その核として、仲間に加わってほしい。」とのオファーを受け、二つ返事で参画することを決心しました。』ということで、ＣＩＯ（チーフ・イノベーション・オフィサー）として活動されている特許事務所でした。
かなり前の話になりますが、横山さんの競合企業にいた私にとって非常に参考になるものでした。特に、研究開発本部をイノベ－ション推進本部に変更し、他社の後追いになりかけていたCNF（セルロースナノファイバー）研究を中断したのは印象的でした。１年後にオンリーワン路線で復活、オンリーワンの世界最高品質のCNF（セルロースナノファイバー）の開発へと導きました。
おそらく横山さんの企業時代の話も入っていたのでしょう、やめた方がいい知財活動はやめて、本来の注力すべき知財活動に注力すべきでしょう。

I watched the archived "Intellectual Property Practices Online: 'IP Activities Best Avoided'" (Guest: Representative Patent Attorney Toyoyama Ogi from One Global IP Patent Office) with the provocative title of the 179th session. It was structured in three parts: Part 1 for companies, Part 2 for companies, and Part 3 for patent firms + the Patent Office, filled with real-life common scenarios that many could relate to. The name of the patent office sounded familiar, so when I checked their website, it made sense. Mr. Yokoyama, who was the Director of Intellectual Property and the Director of the Innovation Promotion Headquarters as well as the Executive Group Executive Officer at Oji Holdings, decided to join with enthusiasm upon receiving an offer from Director Toyoyama Ogi, stating, "I want to transform One Global IP Patent Office from a so-called 'patent office' involved only in the creation, right acquisition, registration, and maintenance of intellectual property rights into an office that truly contributes to managers, developers, and IP personnel. I want you to be part of the core team." This patent office where he is active as CIO (Chief Innovation Officer) was quite a reference for me, who was in a competing company at the time. In particular, it was impressive that they changed the Research and Development Department to the Innovation Promotion Headquarters and suspended their CNF (Cellulose Nanofiber) research, which was about to follow other companies. A year later, they revived with a unique strategy, leading to the development of the world's highest quality CNF. It probably included stories from Mr. Yokoyama's corporate days, suggesting that it's best to avoid certain IP activities and focus on the essential IP activities that should be prioritized.
