GoogleのAI検索「AI Overviews」

Googleは、情報をすばやく検索して、ウェブ上のあらゆる情報を探索できるよう、Google 検索の「AI Overviews」 を 5 月に米国で公開しました。そして、8月 16日、日本をはじめとした世界中のより多くの人々が、より簡単な方法で必要な情報を探して、ウェブ上のあらゆるものを発見できるようになりますと、日本を含む英国、インド、インドネシア、メキシコ、ブラジルの 6 か国へと拡大し、各国の言語への対応も開始することを公表しました。
生成AIによる検索では、Perplexity AIが先頭を走り、OpenAIのSearchGPTが追いかけていましたが、GoogleがAI検索を行うことで、生成AIによる検索の競争も激しくなりそうです。
個人的には、現段階では、既存のGoogle検索が一番で、Perplexityは物足りませんが。

Google’s AI Search “AI Overviews”
 
In May, Google launched the “AI Overviews” feature for Google Search in the United States, allowing users to quickly search for information and explore all kinds of content on the web. On August 16, Google announced that this feature would be expanded to six countries, including Japan, the UK, India, Indonesia, Mexico, and Brazil, enabling more people around the world to find the information they need more easily and discover everything on the web, with support for the languages of these countries.
In the realm of AI-powered search, Perplexity AI has been leading the way, followed by OpenAI’s SearchGPT. However, with Google entering the AI search arena, competition in generative AI-driven search is likely to intensify. Personally, I feel that, at this stage, the existing Google Search is still the best, while Perplexity feels somewhat lacking.
