知財分野での生成AI活用で訴訟勃発

特許文書の読解支援ＡＩアシスタント「サマリア」を提供しているパテント・インテグレーション株式会社が、2024年10月25日に、Patentfield株式会社に対する生成ＡＩに関する特許権の侵害訴訟を東京地方裁判所に提起したということです。被告の特許情報サービス製品（生成AI調査・分析オプション Patentfield AIR）が、パテント・インテグレーション株式会社の生成ＡＩに関する多数の特許権を侵害していると主張しており、この訴訟は、その一部の特許権を先行させて、被告に対し侵害行為の差止及び損害賠償を求めるもの。
交渉が決裂し提訴に至ったものと思われますが、知財分野での生成AI活用の阻害になることは避けていただきたいと思います。

Use of Generative AI in the IP Field Sparks Litigation
 
Patent Integration Co., Ltd., which provides the patent document interpretation support AI assistant "Summaria," filed a lawsuit on October 25, 2024, with the Tokyo District Court against Patentfield Ltd., alleging infringement of its patents related to generative AI. The plaintiff claims that the defendant's patent information service product (generative AI research and analysis option, Patentfield AIR) infringes on multiple patents held by Patent Integration Co., Ltd., specifically seeking to enforce certain patents and demanding an injunction and damages against the alleged infringing actions. It appears that negotiations broke down, leading to the lawsuit, though I hope this will not become an obstacle to the use of generative AI in the IP field.
