2024年の生成AIアップデートとAGI、ASI

2024年の生成AIは、OpenAI, Google, Anthropicなどの激しい競争の中、著しく進化しました。OpenAI にかなり遅れをとっていた印象のあるGoogleが2月にサービス名称をbardからGeminiに変更し、次々と新しいサービスを提供し、追い付いてきた感じです。
新しい推論モデルについても、9月にはOpenAI o1 previewがリリース、12月にはGemini 2.0 Flush Thinkingがリリースされ、生成AIの知能指数が人間の平均を超えたと話題になりました。（2024年のGoogle, OpenAI, Anthropic各社アップデートが良くまとめられている表がありましたので、添付しました。詳細は引用元をご覧ください。）
OpenAIのCEO Sam Altman氏は、新年早々、「我々は伝統的な意味でのAGI（Artificial General Intelligence：汎用人工知能）の構築方法を確実に把握している」とし、次なる目標として「ASI（Artificial Superintelligence：人工超知能）」の開発を掲げたということです。2025年には、「OpenAI o3」、「Google Agentspace」などがリリース予定ですが、それ以外にも次々と予想外のことが起こる可能性がありそうです。

2024 Generative AI Updates and AGI, ASI
 
In 2024, generative AI underwent remarkable advancements amid intense competition among OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Google, which had seemed to lag significantly behind OpenAI, rebranded its service from "Bard" to "Gemini" in February and has been catching up by launching a series of new services.
As for new inference models, OpenAI released the "o1 preview" in September, followed by the release of "Gemini 2.0 Flush Thinking" in December. These developments sparked discussions, as the intelligence quotient of generative AI was said to surpass the human average. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman declared at the beginning of the year that "we have a solid understanding of how to build AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) in the traditional sense" and announced the development of ASI (Artificial Superintelligence) as the next goal. In 2025, releases such as "OpenAI o3" and "Google Agentspace" are anticipated, but there is also the possibility of numerous unforeseen developments.
