we will proudly keep your weights on a special hard drive to give to some historians in the future.」というOpenAIのサム・アルトマンCEOの言葉とともに、OpenAIは5月1日、ChatGPTで利用可能なAIモデルのリストから「GPT-4」を削除しました。
2023年3月に公開された「GPT-4」は、2万5000語以上のテキストを一度に読み込めるなど、同社がそれまで提供してきた「GPT-3.5」を大きく上回る性能で、「GPT-3.5」には驚きながらも「まだまだ」という感覚だったのが、「これは使える」という感じを持たせてくれたのが「GPT-4」でした。
それから2年余り、「OpenAI o3」という「レベル３：エージェント機能を持ち、人間の代わりにタスクを実行するAI」世代が登場し、「レベル4：自ら新しい発明を生み出すAI。」世代の登場が議論されるようになっていて、生成AIの進化が加速していることに驚きます。

Along with these words from OpenAI CEO Sam Altman — "Goodbye, GPT-4. You kicked off a revolution. We will proudly keep your weights on a special hard drive to give to some historians in the future." — OpenAI removed "GPT-4" from the list of AI models available in ChatGPT on May 1.
Released in March 2023, GPT-4 significantly outperformed its predecessor, GPT-3.5 — which could be impressive yet still felt somewhat limited — by offering the ability to process over 25,000 words of text at once. GPT-4 made users feel, “Now this is truly usable.”
More than two years later, the “OpenAI o3” model has emerged — a “Level 3 AI” with agent-like capabilities able to carry out tasks on behalf of humans. Discussions have already begun around the arrival of “Level 4 AI” — systems capable of generating novel inventions on their own. The rapid acceleration of generative AI’s evolution is truly astonishing.
