AI技術の事業活用と知財戦略を推進する専門組織

サイバーエージェントは、AI技術の研究開発組織「AI Lab」において、AI技術の事業活用と知財戦略を推進する専門組織「AI Strategy & Planning」を設立しました。
あえて研究開発組織内に設置することで、研究開発の初期段階から事業戦略と知財戦略の観点を組み込み、技術の特性を最大限に活かした事業展開が可能になるという考え方で、今後も、AI技術の研究開発から事業活用、さらに知財としての権利化を一気通貫で推進する新しい研究組織の在り方を確立し、研究成果の社会的価値を最大化していくとのことです。
「研究開発の初期段階から事業戦略と知財戦略の観点を組み込み、技術の特性を最大限に活かした事業展開」を目指すのはその通りだと思いますが、組織的に研究開発組織の中の方が良いのか外の方が良いのかは、ケースバイケースだと思っています。

A Specialized Organization for Promoting the Business Use of AI Technology and Intellectual Property Strategies
 
CyberAgent has established "AI Strategy & Planning" as a specialized organization for promoting the business use of AI technology and intellectual property strategies within its AI technology research and development organization "AI Lab".
By establishing it within the R&D organization, the Company hopes to incorporate business and intellectual property strategies from the early stages of R&D and develop businesses that make the most of the characteristics of the technology. In the future, the company hopes to establish a new research organization that will promote the seamless integration of AI technology R&D, business application, and intellectual property acquisition, and maximize the social value of research results.
I think the goal of "integrating business and intellectual property strategies from the early stages of R&D, and developing businesses that make the most of the characteristics of the technology" is right, but I think it is a case-by-case decision whether it is better to have the R&D organization inside or outside the company.
