Google「NotebookLM」のアップデート

Googleの「NotebookLM」は、今年6月から日本語でも実験的に提供されているサービスで、生成AIとしては「Gemini 1.5 Pro」が用いられており、文献をアップロードでき、その文献情報を解釈・整理し、引用元を示しながら質問に答えてくれますので、対話を通して文献情報への理解を深めたり、新しいアイデアを練ったりするのに役立ちます。ChatGPT-4oで文献をアップロードして解釈・整理してもらうのと同様のことが出来ますので、比較することでより理解が深まります。ChatGPT-4oの場合は引用元を示すことが出来ないので、引用元を正確に確認するにはとても便利です。
Googleは10月17日、「NotebookLM」のアップデートを発表しました。今回の発表により、「実験的」というラベルが取り払われ、新たな機能として「音声の概要」のカスタマイズとバックグラウンドでのリスニングが新たにサポートされているようです。また、「NotebookLM Business」がアナウンスされました。これは企業、大学、組織向けの機能強化版で、有料になります。「NotebookLM Business」の提供が開始されるまで、引き続き無料版の「NotebookLM」は利用可能ということで、「NotebookLM Business」の一般提供開始時期と価格については今年後半に公表される予定とされています。無料版の「NotebookLM」がなくなってしまうのは残念です。

Google's "NotebookLM" is a service that has been experimentally available in Japanese since June of this year, using "Gemini 1.5 Pro" as the generative AI. It allows users to upload documents, interpret and organize the document information, and respond to questions while citing sources. This makes it useful for deepening one's understanding of document information and brainstorming new ideas through conversation. You can do something similar with ChatGPT-4o, uploading documents for interpretation and organization. However, unlike ChatGPT-4o, which cannot cite sources, "NotebookLM" is very convenient for verifying sources accurately.
On October 17, Google announced an update to "NotebookLM." With this announcement, the "experimental" label has been removed, and new features like customizable "audio summaries" and background listening are now supported. Additionally, "NotebookLM Business" has been announced—a paid, enhanced version for businesses, universities, and organizations. Until the launch of "NotebookLM Business," the free version of "NotebookLM" remains available, and details about the launch date and pricing of "NotebookLM Business" are expected to be announced later this year. It is unfortunate that the free version of "NotebookLM" will eventually be discontinued.
