4月9日に配信された（第281回）知財実務オンライン：「AIエージェントと変える企業知財 ― 業務アシスタントから戦略的パートナーへ」（ゲスト：株式会社MIXI コンプライアンス本部知財室室長　栗山幸介氏、約1時間45分）を視聴しました。
SE出身の弁理士・中小企業診断士である栗山氏は、チャットAIの一問一答型利用から、Claude Codeを活用したAIが自律的に計画・実行する「エージェント」型へと活用を進化させています。デモでは、発送書類のPDFを入力するだけで、拒絶理由通知への対応案作成や特許査定案件の評価・分割出願方針の提案までをAIが約1時間で一括処理する様子が披露されました。
運用上のポイントは「許容ライン」の設計で、権利維持目的の中間処理はAIに大きく委ね、重要案件には人が深く関与するという、メリハリが少人数での高い生産性を支えています。プロンプト資産はGitHubで管理し、出願関連だけで約1万8000行に達しています。
今年度の目標は「5人で30人分のアウトプット」、知財部を処理組織から戦略を語る組織へ転換するというビジョンが明確に示されていました。

Transforming Corporate IP with AI Agents (MIXI IP Department)
I watched the 281st IP Practice Online session, streamed on April 9, titled “Transforming Corporate IP with AI Agents — From Operational Assistants to Strategic Partners” (Guest: Mr. Kosuke Kuriyama, Head of the Intellectual Property Office, Compliance Division, MIXI, Inc.; approx. 1 hour 45 minutes).
Mr. Kuriyama, a patent attorney and certified small and medium enterprise management consultant with a background as a systems engineer, has evolved his use of AI from simple Q&A-style chat tools to an “agent-based” approach in which AI autonomously plans and executes tasks using tools such as Claude Code. In the demonstration, simply inputting a PDF of office action documents enabled the AI to complete, in about one hour, a full set of processes—from drafting response strategies to office actions, to evaluating cases for allowance and proposing divisional filing strategies.
A key operational point is the design of an “acceptable threshold.” Routine intermediate procedures aimed at maintaining rights are largely delegated to AI, while human experts remain deeply involved in critical cases. This clear division of roles enables high productivity even with a small team. Prompt assets are managed on GitHub, with approximately 18,000 lines dedicated to filing-related workflows alone.
The department’s goal for this fiscal year is to achieve “the output of 30 people with a team of five,” with a clear vision of transforming the IP department from a processing function into a strategy-driven organization.
