大同特殊鋼株式会社顧問、東北大学特別招聘プロフェッサーの佐川眞人氏が、2024年度の欧州発明家賞の非ヨーロッパ諸国部門最優秀賞を受賞しました。世界最強の永久磁石「ネオジム磁石」を1982年に開発したことによるものです。
欧州発明家賞は2006年に創設され、技術や社会の発展に大きな貢献をした発明家に贈られる賞で、日本人の受賞では、吉野氏(2019年受賞)のリチウムイオン電池、飯島氏ら(2015年受賞)のカーボンナノチューブ、原氏ら(2014年受賞)のQRコードなどがあります。

​"European Inventor Award" to Masato Sagawa, Inventor of "Neodymium Magnet"
 
Masato Sagawa, Advisor at Daido Steel Co., Ltd. and Specially Appointed Professor at Tohoku University, has been awarded the 2024 European Inventor Award in the category of non-European countries. This award is in recognition of his development of the world's strongest permanent magnet, the "neodymium magnet," in 1982.
The European Inventor Award was established in 2006 and is presented to inventors who have made significant contributions to technological and societal advancement. Previous Japanese recipients include Akira Yoshino for the lithium-ion battery (awarded in 2019), Sumio Iijima and others for the carbon nanotube (awarded in 2015), and the team led by Hara for the QR code (awarded in 2014).
